Coming Home, is the first volume of the series; Sandstone, Nevada. A fictional town in the northern Nevada desert and what happens when the prodigal son returns.
Rusk disappeared from Sandstone without telling anyone or contacting anyone during the 12 years he has been away. He's now in his 30's and coming home to the place that he missed every day for those 12 years.
Rusk had a very interesting childhood in Sandstone. His mother was the Mayor and proprietor of the local brothel, known as, the Ranch. Ms. Mattie, is well-known in the state of Nevada, a single mother, 5 feet tall, red hair, built like Dolly Parton, extrovert, type-A personality and if all that wasn't enough? She has a genius IQ. Rusk didn't know who his biological father was. The person he considers his father, is Ms. Mattie's bodyguard and long time friend, Deacon. RT is his brother-from-another-mother, best friend and cohort in just about everything. Sallie Mae, is a childhood friend and the love of his life.
Almost everyone in town had a hand in raising and educating Rusk to be the man that he is today. Fiercely loyal to friends and family. Independent. An honest man who knows the difference in right and wrong and lives up to his word.
During the 12 years he was gone, he lived all over the world. He's worked for warehousing companies and for a short time worked for an un-named government agency.
Rusk returns to Sandstone with money and a dog. The dogs name is Strange and lives up to the name every day and initially scares everyone who sees him. Rusk also brings with him a couple of other friends that have been there for him and think that they can tell him what to do. Sarg who is his warehouse manager and Maria who is his housekeeper, chef and personal assistant. He considers them both, not only friends, but family.
Rusk purchased property with a house and business a year before returning and had them remodeled to be ready when he arrived without anyone knowing they belonged to him. He knew that his return was going to be a challenge but he had no idea what he was in for.
Getting reacquainted after abandoning everyone the way he did, gets some surprising reactions. Then trying to blend the people he has had in his life and the people from his past together, makes for some interesting situations.
Follow Rusk and Strange while they navigate the characters and situations that are...Sandstone, Nevada.

I am a new reader of this author. I really like his style of writing, easy to read, hard to put down, intriguing,and humorous.The characters are a mix of strong minded people. The visual description of the area is detailed and entertaining as well. "He has" a dog, or should I say a "dog has him", that has quite a bit of character, skill, communication ability and humor. I would love to meet a dog as described in this story. The dog could have his own series of books he is so interesting. The story line moves along at a good pace and the chapters are short, which I like because I don't have long periods of time that I can just sit and read. I can't wait for the next book to come out!!Product details

I really enjoyed reading this book! The author does an amazing job explaining the characters and giving them life! Strange was the most animated dog I've ever read about and I wish he could be my own! Subtle mystery as well as a true coming home story. Great read and I would definitely recommned others to read it as well!
New author Max Reynolds is really finding his groove. His writing style is fresh and insightful. In `Coming Home' his characters are well developed and easy to relate to. The story is believable, fun and entertaining. Love the main character `Rusk' and his sidekick-a little dog that has a personality all his own. Quick, easy read!
